    Modern Miniature Sink
    By Deb Roberts

    Miniature Sink

Bowl sinks are all the rage in modern décor, but finding one in miniature may be a bit of a challenge.  Easier than finding a miniature bowl sink is to make this quick and easy modern bathroom sink.  This is a wall-mounted double sink, but the instructions can easily be adapted for a single sink on a pedestal.

    Materials needed:

Scrap wood cut to the size you desire
    Suction cups with hooks
    Black and silver paint
    Bendable drinking straws

You’ll need three pieces of scrap wood.  One is for the base of the sink, one is for the foundation piece underneath and the third, smaller piece is for the backsplash.  Paint the pieces in the color you desire.  (I used back because it shows up better in the photographs)  You can be very creative with the painting, adding marble effects, or cover the wood with simulated marble or granite paper.

After the paint has dried, turn the base piece upside down and glue the foundation piece to the edge so it’s flush.

Glue the backsplash in place on the top of the base.

Next, cut the bendy pieces from the drinking straws and paint them silver.  Set them aside to let the paint dry completely.

Remove the hook from the suction cups and, using a pair of wire cutters, cut off the lower part of the hook. The top part of the hook will be your faucet.  Turn the suction cup upside down and cut off the nipple at the bottom with a pair of sharp scissors so the cup will sit evenly on the sink base.

Glue the sinks into place on the base and then glue the faucets in place.  You can use beads for handles if you wish, or you can go with the completely modern look of a motion activated faucet.

The final step is to glue the silver straw pieces in place under the sink for the pipes.

And that’s all there is to it!  It’s a fast and easy bowl sink for your modern bathroom!
